Will Nightcrawler teleport into Marvel Rivals this year?

Kurt Wagner has been in the game's leaked files for more than a year, and dataminers had him penciled in for this fall. Then NetEase confirmed that Season 10 would launch with a single hero, Gorr the God Butcher, and that the Season 10.5 mid-season update would add no new hero at all. Delphi puts his 2026 debut at 30.5%, largely on the risk that he gets squeezed out by Doctor Doom's long-awaited arrival.

The question

Will Nightcrawler be added to Marvel Rivals in 2026? asks whether Kurt Wagner becomes a playable hero in NetEase's hero shooter before the year is out.

"Added" most naturally means playable, not revealed. A trailer, a Dev Vision announcement or a "coming soon" teaser in December would not be enough on its own. Datamines, leaks and accidental Discord posts do not count either. "Yes": Wins if Nightcrawler is added as a playable character in Marvel Rivals in an official patch or update released before January 1, 2026, as confirmed by official Marvel Rivals patch notes or in-game availability.

Where Delphi's forecast stands

Currently, Delphi's forecast leans NO. It gives Nightcrawler a 30.5% chance of joining the roster in 2026, against 69.5% that he doesn't. That's roughly a one-in-three shot at one of the two hero slots left on the 2026 calendar.

The case for NO

Doom has first claim on a slot. Doctor Doom has been the game's central villain since its first season, Doom's Rise, and Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18. NetEase is spending Season 10.5 on Path to Doomsday modes themed on Infinity War and Endgame. A June datamine listed Doom as Season 11's headliner, paired with a second hero nobody could name.

Nightcrawler's slot was cut, not moved. That same leak had Nightcrawler arriving in Season 10 alongside Gorr. NetEase didn't push him back half a season. It removed the 10.5 hero entirely and redirected the team to event modes. If Season 11's lineup was already set as Doom plus someone else, and PC Gamer reports NetEase has already picked both, Nightcrawler slides to Season 12 in January 2027.

Leaks get the who right and the when wrong. Nightcrawler has been "next" for more than a year. An official Discord graphic briefly showed him as the featured hero during Season 8.5, a slot that belonged to Cyclops. Fans read it as a tease; four months later, he still isn't in the game. Turbosmurfs' leak scorecard notes that Deadpool was leaked for Season 4 and arrived in Season 6, and that NetEase says datamined characters may never ship at all.

The second slot is crowded. Community theories for Season 11's other hero range from Amaranth to Professor X, and Thanos would fit an event built around Infinity War and Endgame. Nightcrawler only needs to lose one coin flip.

The case for YES

Two slots, and both land in 2026. In the September 8 Dev Vision, creative director Guangyun Chen said that "a single-hero season isn't the new normal" and promised two heroes in Season 11. Every half-season since Season 3 has run 28 or 35 days, which puts Season 11 on November 6 or 13 and its mid-season hero in early-to-mid December. YES doesn't need a surprise, just one of two scheduled slots.

He was next in line. The slot NetEase cut was Nightcrawler's. If the queue simply shifts by one, he opens Season 11 in November and Doom takes the midpoint, a week or two before Doomsday opens. That order is cleaner marketing than the alternative, and it's how Beebom's leak tracker now reads Season 11. MarvelRivals.gg had already pegged Doom for 11.5 in December.

The roster is building toward him. NetEase has spent the past year filling out the X-Men, with Gambit, Rogue, Cyclops and Jubilee all arriving since last November. Recent reports cast Nightcrawler as a Strategist, while Doom is expected as a Vanguard. After a Duelist in Gorr and a Vanguard in The Hood, a support hero is the obvious gap.

What to watch

This question will likely be decided in early November, not December 31. NetEase names new heroes in a Dev Vision video a few days before each season: The Hood was confirmed three days before he shipped, and Gorr three days before Season 10. If Nightcrawler is one of Season 11's two names, YES becomes a question of whether the season runs on schedule. If he isn't, NO is close to settled.

Before then, watch for in-game teases. Gorr was set up for weeks through Season 9's comics, a Death of Apocalypse event and gallery cards, so a Nightcrawler gallery card or a cameo in the Path to Doomsday modes would move Delphi's forecast. Datamines of the October 9 patch are the other signal, along with the official Season 11 start date and any sign the season will stretch the midpoint past late December.

At 30%, Delphi's forecast is effectively saying that Doom's Season 11 partner was locked in before Nightcrawler's slot disappeared. The Season 11 reveal will show whether that read holds.
